MISSIONS & VALUES
Creating opportunities, inspiring, educating and empowering aspiring law students.
Access to Law Pathways, our aim is to act as the bridging link to connect the legal profession and the local communities.
Our vision is to balance the scale of opportunities for all. We aim to increase visible role models, promote diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, with the aim to make law and professional careers accessible for underrepresented groups of people in society. The academy provides mentoring, coaching, practical legal and business administration experience to marginalised groups in the community. We aim to undertake many communities’ engagements work in a voluntary capacity. We seek to encourage students and participants from under-represented groups to consider legal and professional careers.
We have a wide selection of legal professionals at Bila Law Academy, who are passionate about giving back to the community by transferring legal knowledge and skills to participants so that they can acquire confidence and build resilience. We strongly believe that this will open doors of opportunities which will encourage them to follow their passion and reach their full potential.
We work with solicitors, barristers, court officials, law lecturers and organisations that supports our mission and vision to increase diversity and inclusion.
Together we are committed to improve social mobility and contribute to society by giving back to the community, in order to make the legal profession more diverse and inclusive. Our aim is to positively contribute, address the challenges, help remove barriers and open doors, that do not allow everyone the opportunity to succeed and make the most of their talents, irrespective of their backgrounds. Most young people and students from underrepresented backgrounds have limited support, especially when it comes to career advice, orientation, training and work-experience. The lack of these opportunities limits their chances of securing professional and competitive jobs in various professional industries. Unfortunately, many will complete degrees but never succeed in obtaining employment in their dream career due to the lack of career progression support.
We are passionate about working with students and educating young people from underrepresented backgrounds by providing more visible role models. Our aim is to create opportunities which will allow them to confidently pursue their professional and legal careers. Through the power of education, practical experience and knowledge-sharing, more young people from underrepresented backgrounds will develop skills which will help improve their chance for attraction and retention. We hope to see our students and participants strive in their chosen career. All lawyers that volunteer their time to run the programmes are packed with experience, inspiration, resilience and determination.
